Police and the Constitution

 



This latest round of police murderously abusing their authority highlights the need for a refresher course in certain parts of the US Constitution when it comes to what rights people are entitled to in our society when it comes to how they are treated by the government's enforcers of the law.

My challenge to the Regressives, who are making every possible excuse in the comments section on behalf of their beloved Thin Blue Line for violating a citizen's Constitutional rights is to answer this, simple question:

Why do you feel American citizens -- of any background! --  should obediently "just comply" with badged government enforcers who are objectively and violently infringing on their Constitutional rights?

In no uncertain terms, here are those parts:



Amendment IV

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Amendment V

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

Amendment VI

In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the assistance of counsel for his defense.

Amendment VIII

Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted


Amendment XIV, Section 1

All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

Now, then... 

 
If your answer to my question is, "They shouldn't! The Constitution should be defended!  Come and try to take my rights!" then I have some good news for you.

You have a chance now to prove your patriotism by supporting BLM's efforts to make sure that those parts of the Constitution are observed and protected by those who swore an oath to protect and uphold the Constitution, instead of doing what you've always done.

The more anybody condemns BLM because they don't like the members' skin color, the more that condemnation demonstrates that person's hatred for the Constitution, itself.  If that's the case, and your war is against the Constitution on behalf of some Fascist fantasy, then, as far as every patriotic American is concerned, you have made yourself the enemy of everything this nation holds dear.

This is what Orwellian DoubleThink Looks like

Today, we're going to look at a meme that crossed my path, courtesy of the Regressives.




On its face, this looks nice and reasonable.  And, to anybody NOT paying attention to everything MAGA Republicans have stood for, promoted, and done since before their inception as the Tea Party, these might be ideas we all could rally around.

The problem is that we have 20 years of actions, rhetoric, and context to examine these talking points by.  Let’s take them one by one.

LOWER TAXES

MAGA Republicans had an absolute grip on the levers of power over taxes for 4 years.  Trump’s Tax Cuts and Jobs Act did indeed cut the corporate tax rate, but that mostly only benefited shareholder, who tend to be higher earners. It only cut individuals' taxes for a limited period of time.  It scaled back the alternative minimum tax and estate tax, as well as reduced the taxes levied on pass-through income (70% of which goes to the highest-earning 1%).  The cuts were not distributed evenly or progressively. The analysis revealed that the tax break would hit 93.7% of taxpayers in the highest-earning quintile, and only 53.9% of those in the lowest quintile.  It increased real burdens on the majority of Americans, benefitting Trump’s personal circle of rich cronies more than anybody else on the ground.

So, this statement only holds true if you count the investor and CEO class as the only class of Americans.

Speaking of taxes, by the way, it’s interesting how 13 Republican MAGA states are now preparing to institute new taxes on any student who participates in the Federal loan forgiveness program.  Funny how that happens, when they certainly didn’t do the same for any of Trump’s cronies who had their own loans forgiven.

FEWER REGULATIONS

The vast majority of regulations cut were environmental ones, which subjected whole swaths of the population to dirtier air, poisoned water and more toxic living conditions in the name of corporate profit. 

So, we can conclude that this talking point means that MAGA Republicans want the American population to be poisoned, making them sicker and less able to work productively, thus increasing overall social and financial costs to consumers.

ENERGY INDEPENDENCE

From the beginning of Trump’s term to the end, the US very much relied on oil and gas from abroad.

In 2020, Trump’s last full year in office, the US imported about 7.9 million barrels per day of crude oil and petroleum products. That was down from prior years – the US imported more than 10 million barrels per day in 2016.  While a 21% decrease in imports is a good thing, it is not an accurate term, especially when factoring in Trump’s deliberate stifling of Green Energy projects that would have allowed America to generate its own energy without poisoning the environment.

SMALL NON-INTRUSIVE GOVERNMENT

This from the party that wants the government to determine what medical procedures a woman may have, spy on teachers in classrooms, target American citizens for their ethnicity or religion, and cheered for the government literally black-bagging American citizens for exercising their First Amendment rights.  This, from the party that cheered for the USA violating the Geneva Conventions at Abu Ghraib and other black sites.  This, from the party who wire-tapped the entire American population after 9/11, turning the entire USA into a massive surveillance state.

How, exactly, are those the actions of a small, non-intrusive government?

 TEACHERS TEACHING, NOT INDOCTRINATING

Again, it’s hard to believe that MAGA Republicans are for education when they’re banning thousands of books and demanding that Nazis be taught as if they were “the good guys” of history.  Coupled with the call for keeping cameras monitoring teacher behavior in classrooms and the demand that all teachers be armed, according to the NRA’s ludicrous reimagining of the 2nd Amendment, this is a perfect example of the Orwellian tactic of subverting the direct meaning of a term to mean its exact opposite.

So we can discount this as yet another lie from that side.

LEGAL IMMIGRATION

By November 2020, the Trump administration reduced the number of green cards issued to people abroad by at least 418,453.  Trump succeeded in cutting legal immigration more than he initially planned, he oversaw the collapse of interior immigration enforcement. In 2020, the removal of illegal immigrants from the interior of the United States was the lowest as an absolute number and as a share of the illegal immigration population since ICE was created in 2003. Trump failed to increase removals because local jurisdictions refused to cooperate with his administration, instead relying on xenophobic comments about “shithole countries” to rile up his white supremacist base.

BRINGING MANUFACTURING BACK

As analysis has shown, Trump’s trade policies not only failed to curb offshoring, but also never addressed the root causes of America’s growing trade deficits and the decline of American manufacturing.

In addition to the Trump administration’s overall weak trade agenda, COVID-19—and the administration’s mismanagement of the crisis—has wiped out much of the last decade’s job gains in U.S. manufacturing.  Nearly 1,800 US factories disappeared under Trump between 2016 and 2018.  Additionally, the U.S. trade deficit in manufactured goods rose significantly between 2016 and 2019. In fact, the real U.S. trade deficit has increased in every year since 2016, reducing GDP growth by roughly 0.25% annually

Trump’s trade wars were probably the more likely cause of the 2019 slowdown. Trump began imposing tariffs on many Chinese imports, along with steel and aluminum from other countries, in 2018, and most of these nations imposed their own retaliatory measures on U.S. exports. By 2019, the trade war some analysts expected to peter out was escalating, instead. Trump ultimately slapped tariffs on about $361 billion worth of imported goods, imposing a cost of about $57 billion on the U.S. economy, according to the American Action Forum think tank.

Coupled with his public mismanagement of the public health crisis, which created a demand shock, a supply shock, and a financial shock all at once, those actions precipitated a severe economic downturn.

So, MAGA Republicans, in cheering for their beloved Fuhrer, once again push for the exact opposite of what their talking points claim.

FAMILY VALUES

Uh-huh.  The party that made policies of forcibly separating non-white families, relying on discrimination to prevent loving couples from adopting abandoned children, preventing loving couples from marrying at all and starting families, and openly endorsing the concept of child rape, even going so far as to force a 10-year-old rape victim to carry her rapist’s baby to term and openly stating that they believe 13 should be the age of consent, is now pretending to care about families.

Given the party’s open embrace of Christian Theocracy and Dominionist Nationalism, and the MAGA love of a thrice-divorced man who, on-camera, openly expressed his desire to copulate with his own daughter, I can only imagine how much their favored Southern Baptist church’s near-Catholic levels of child sexual abuse reinforces the “Father Knows Best” fantasy that this buzzword phrase has represented since its inception!

 

EQUAL OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL

 This one is truly twisted.  Nobody believes the party that has openly embraced White Nationalism, down to the KKK slogan “America First,” and the racially inflammatory “Great Replacement” theory in its justification of using government troops to round up legal immigrants from “shithole countries”, after revoking the right of women to make their own medical decisions cares about anybody other than rich white Christian men.  They certainly don’t care about American Muslims, or non-whites, or Jews, or LGBT, or women, or people from other political parties, and have made a point of expressing that as often as possible for the past 20 years.

Only brainwashed MAGA extremists, who now make up the core base of the Republican Party, could possibly embrace the Orwellian DoubleThink of loving America while hating the vast majority of the people in it.

So, here we have MAGA Republicans, claiming to now love the very values that they’ve openly spent 20 years tearing apart, obstructing and condemning.  The same values they took up arms against the government itself to install an authoritarian regime to ensure were never embraced.

Sounds to me like the only statement they’re making that holds up to scrutiny is that MAGA Republicans, themselves, are the problem in America.

Who are Republicans planning to shoot?

Every time there’s a mass shooting, which is a twice-a-day occurrence in the USA, there’s always the same talking points from the Right Wing for why we shouldn’t do anything about it.  Here’s what I have to say to each of them in response.



 

So, Republicans, I’m speaking directly to you, now.  Let’s look at what your tired old talking points really mean and play them out to their logical conclusion.

 “Guns are tools”

Are they, now?  OK, so what do you build with them, using them as they’re designed for and intended to be used?  Other than a cemetery? 


"It's a Mental Health problem!"

Ok, then, why does your party always cut funding for mental health?  Why do you want mentally ill people to be able to shoot others?  And, if "guns aren't the problem, people are," why on earth would you want the problem to have a gun to shoot innocents?

 

“It’s a slippery slope!”

Leading to what, exactly?  Federal troops tear-gassing citizens for exercising their Constitutional rights?  Police literally crushing citizens’ windpipes without a trial until the citizen is dead?  Unmarked government vans black-bagging citizens and whisking them off to Guantanamo?  That’s already going on.  Just look at Portland.  Funny, though, how every time it’s reported, you cheer for and defend the actions of the police and government agents.  So, what slippery slope are you afraid of, again?

 “I need my guns to defend my freedom from the government”

So, who in the government are you planning to shoot to “defend your freedom”?  The police who come to your door when you break the laws you don’t want to follow?  How many policemen do you plan to kill, then? 

Or are you planning on shooting National Guardsmen, who’d be the next most likely means used by the government against you?  Or, perhaps the regular troops that sticker on your bumper tells us to support?  How many American soldiers do you plan to gun down?  Are you going to shoot them as they ride down the street in a Humvee or are you going to take the fight to their bases, since “the best defense is a good offense”?  How many bases do you think you and your civilian-level guns will take down?  

If that’s not on your agenda, are you planning to use your guns against your elected representatives, then?  If so, which Congressmen are you planning on using your guns on to “defend your freedom”?  Are their interns included on your hit list or will you let them live because of how low they are on the government food chain?

 “Militias!”

OK, a Militia is defined by Oxford English dictionary as “a military force that is raised from the civil population – constituted by all able-bodied civilians eligible by law for military service -- to supplement a regular army in an emergency.”  When did you officially sign up for that patriotic service and which state or federal military commander do you report to when you’re on duty? 

Oh, you and your armed beer buddies are not part of any federal or state command?  That would make you either a street gang – meaning any group of individuals who share a common identity and who generally engage in criminal behavior – or a terror cell – meaning any group of individuals planning or implementing violent, criminal acts committed by individuals and/or groups to further ideological goals. 

Given that your previous talking point was about fighting a war against the government instead of serving as its auxiliary, which of the two above categories are you? 

 “I need them to defend my home and family”

Who exactly are you expecting is going to break into your rented trailer and what are you expecting them to steal?  Your TV?  Your phone?  Your gun racks?  That set of silverware you got from grandma that you haven’t cleaned in 15 years?  And what are you expecting the intruder to look like?  Are you going to do the same as Ahmed Aubrey’s killers and run down anybody who jogs through your neighborhood in a hoodie who doesn’t share your skin tone?  Or, are you simply going to pull your gun out at anybody who knocks on your door, unannounced, no matter what they look like?  And what was that you were saying about “not living in fear” again?  I forgot what it was…

  “You cannot legislate away evil.”

So, why is your party trying to ban abortion, then?  If bans don’t work, there’s no reason to push for bans, now, is there?  Speaking of abortion, how, exactly, do you expect people to believe you’re looking to protect the lives of children when you won’t lift a finger to protect the lives of children when they’re gunned down in their elementary schools?

It is nice to hear you admit, though, with this talking point, that what you’re supporting so adamantly is evil.  I appreciate that rare bit of honesty from you.

 Only criminals will have them.”

Which will make it a lot easier to identify who deserves to get locked up.  Why is that a bad thing?

 “It’s those damned liberals”

So, you need your guns to shoot liberals, then?  Are you planning on going door-to-door, gunning your liberal neighbors down in their beds, in the dead of night, Beonna Taylor style, or will you burn a cross on their front lawns first?

 “The gays are groomers!”

So, you’re planning to shoot gay people, then?  Which gay bar are you planning on shooting up first?  Are you going to do the same to your gay neighbors that you want to do to your liberal neighbors?  How many of their doors are you planning to bust down?  

Or, are you going to shoot actual groomers, like Josh Duggar (wasn’t he a hero of yours?  So many of your beloved leaders have pictures with him, all smiles and glad-hands!)?  Or are you going to hunt down all those Southern Baptist preachers and Catholic priests that have been exposed as groomers and pedophiles themselves?  If so, which rectories are you going to shoot up first?

 “Gun-free zones don’t work”

So, why then, is the NRA instituting a gun-free zone at their next convention?  Wouldn’t your beloved Fuhrer be safest surrounded by an armed crowd when he issues his keynote speech?

 “We need more guns in schools!  Arm the teachers!  Post cops at the entrance!”

Arming teachers, huh?  Guess you’ll be really happy when Ms. Smith  snaps and shoots your precious little angel for disobedience, right?  Or should the teachers wait to use their guns until your kid tries to steal another kid’s lunch money?  No?  Will you still be cheering when your kid steals the teacher’s gun and shoots their classmates? 

And what about those cops?  What good are they when they’re cowering outside a school for over an hour in fear of an 18-year-old kid?  All they did was prevent people like you from running in to save their children’s lives.  Besides, didn't you also want to shoot cops, as per your previous talking points?  Why would you consider badged government agents hanging around your kids to be a good thing?

 “Critical Race Theory!  Great Replacement!”

Yes, yes, yes, we all know how scared you are of any academic track that paints racists in a bad light or delves too deeply into how government policies of the past impact our lives today.  Way to go in promoting well-informed citizenship!

Knowing how scared you are of being a demographic minority in a non-white majority nation – which undercuts your insistence that minorities have no problems in the USA, by the way, because you wouldn’t be so scared of being treated like a minority if you didn’t already know in your heart how badly they’re treated -- are you planning on using your guns the way the Buffalo shooter did and unload into a black neighborhood grocery store a few streets or towns over? 

Or will you just use your guns to "defend yourself" against the quinceanera that immigrant family is throwing for their daughter next weekend?  Who, specifically, are you looking to use your guns on in this glorious defense of your skin tone?

 “I just want to have my guns and you can’t stop me!”

So, if you’re not actually planning to use your guns (good for you for rejecting violent action, if that’s the case!) and just want to cosplay with them, you don’t need limitless magazines for bullets, do you?  If you’re not planning on shooting people with your precious guns, that’s great, but did you mean to admit that you’re just a poser who’s looking to compensate for some personal inadequacy?  If you’re not going to put your cosplay into real-life action, why are you pretending that acting like a spoiled toddler about it and treating deadly weapons as if they were harmless toys is commendable?  If you’re just a poser trying to look like a “real man,” why should any of us take anything you say in any other light?

"It's my right!"

Uh-huh.  Are you asserting that you personally have the right to commit murder?  That brings us right back to the critical question -- who, exactly, are you planning to shoot?


I'm just asking questions, Republicans.  Assuming you're capable of rational thought,  mull these questions over.  If you truly want us to believe you’re the "pro-life" good guys in these scenarios, actually be Pro-Life and  stop throwing a tantrum every time someone suggests a common-sense measure that prevents loss of life from gun violence.  All those tantrums do is show the rest of us that, in your heart of hearts, you're just looking to shoot someone.

The New Rittenhouse Rules

 


Kyle Rittenhouse has been set loose by the White Supremacist judge who took it more easily on that murderous teenager than he ever would have on George Floyd. Score 2 for the George Zimmermans of the world.

This establishes a precedent and puts us into a horrific new world when it comes to public action and protests on behalf of justice.

Remember, folks -- the people who are cheering for Rittenhouse are the same people who cheered for a badged government thug summarily executing George Floyd, violating his Constitutional right to the same fair and speedy trial by a jury of his peers that Rittenhouse himself used to his advantage.  

That's all fine with Rittenhouse fans, because that's what he crossed state lines to commit murder to support -- badged government enforcers trampling on the rights of American citizens with impunity.

These are the same people who, at every opportunity, demand the right to commit murder as they please, without any sort of check on their ability to do so.  That's what their deliberate negating of the entire first half of the 2nd Amendment is about -- what they want is a free-for-all of lethal violence.

These are the same people who claim to fear a tyrannical government, and then turn right around and cheer for the government acting tyrannically.  Just look at how often they've cheered, "Lock her up" when their Fuhrer talked about abusing his power to summarily jail his political opponents.

They cheer for raping women, forcing them to carry unwanted pregnancies and then turn around and pretend they're "pro-life" after ruining numerous lives forever.

They demand that your employer gain more and more power over your life as your wages stagnate and prices rise.   This is why they oppose raising wages to meet the local cost of living.  They want a full slave economy back and think they'll somehow not be subject to it.

They cheer for your loved ones getting needlessly sick and dying in medical bankruptcy.  Because, after all, helping sick people get well and NOT draining their bank account for it is somehow Marxist in their twisted minds.  This is why they oppose Universal Medical care, because they foolishly believe they won't need it.

These are the people who want to actually burn books in Virginia schools because those books might present kids with ideas counter to the "Whites-only" Fascist narrative of the Right Wing.  Ideas like alternative sexuality, or gender fluidity, or simply treating women with the same respect that we expect women to show to men.  

If you're a descendant of African slaveryLGBT, Trans, Muslim, Mexican or Alternative to White Cis-Hetero Christian in any way, the same Right Wingers who claim to hate the idea of the government in their bedroom will demand that government thugs kick in your door and invade your bedroom.  They were fine with that being done to Breonna Taylor.  They'll be fine with that being done to you.

The people who cheer for such heinous things are heinous people, who will do nobody here any good at all and should be treated as a clear and present danger.  Our politics reflect our ethics and our character.  They've shown us theirs at every turn.  We should stop making excuses, believe them and treat them accordingly.

So, we have a choice now -- we can start treating them the way they keep insisting innocents should be treated, and guarantee that more violence will ensue by visiting their own actions upon them...

OR...

We can make a concerted effort to make sure they do not have a platform to spew their bile from.

I'm going with the second option.  And I need your help to do it.

I am posting this on all of my social media pages.  I recommend everybody who reads this do the same.


Anybody who supports Rittenhouse, Chauvin, Trump or the Republican Party at all in my friends list should just do us all a favor and disconnect from me.  

Right now. 

I don't want to know you.

Any post that I find from here on in, actively promoting that racist, inhumane mindset that says it's OK to treat people as disposable, non-whites as inferior, women as broodmares and general basic human decency as unacceptable will be reported as hate speech and threats of violence.  


Let's make it impossible for them to post a thing, or connect with anybody else.  Let's make sure their reputations are so damaged that they can't get into their own families' parties, because nobody wants scum like them around.

Personal shunning is the best and most ethical way, short of violence, that I can think of to deal with such sad excuses for human beings.  

They want a war -- let's make sure they have nowhere to go to wage it.

The alternative is far too horrible to contemplate...and it is exactly what the Right Wing wants.

Progressive Priorities to Push

 

In 2013, I, with the help of like-minded friends, began developing a full Progressive Platform to address the growing concerns about the future of this nation.  I have tweaked and tailored it periodically over the years and, now that Drumpf and his Nazis have been removed from the primary levers of power, I’m updating it again.

Ultimately, this is what I, as a self-styled Progressive would do to fix the issues facing the USA, were I handed the power necessary to do so.

I will be working to push our new Administration to embrace as many of these ideas as possible and I urge all of you to push for these ideas with me.




 

PRIORITY ONE is to address the COVID pandemic, using all resources available. 

This includes mass production and distribution of the available vaccines with all due speed and efficiency as well as direct stimulus to individuals at the bottom of the economic heap.  By this, I mean anybody who makes $150,000 a year or less.  The top 1% needs no breaks or stimulus, as they have plenty of private resources to weather nearly any storm, short of the Death Star firing on the planet.

 

NEXT, I would address the following issues:

 

SICK CARE

Leverage the COVID response for the creation of a National Single-Payer Health Care Option to cover Basic Medical Care, Catastrophic Illness or Injury, Generic Prescriptions, including Generic Birth Control/Women’s Health Services and Annual Physicals

This is to be a Public Option alongside Private Insurance, comparable to the Public/Private School System.  Private Insurance would be subject to the same regulations as the Public Option.  Elective Procedures will not be covered under the Public Option but could be covered by Private Options.  Abortions will be covered in cases of rape, incest, minors and medical emergency, but will not be covered if deemed by the physician to not be medically necessary.

Lifetime medical care to be covered, with doctors being given final say over their patients’ care, subject to Medical Review boards of their peers.

 

DOMESTIC SOCIAL JUSTICE

Reinstitute the Assault Weapons Ban, with limited exceptions for Veterans and Law Enforcement, subject to strict regulation.

  • Gun ownership to be placed under the same basic universal regulations as are commonly seen with automobile ownership as regulated by the States, which includes mandatory training and licensure specific to each type of weapon, with all licenses to be reviewed for renewal every 5 years.
  • Mandatory Liability Insurance against the foreseeable accidents inherent in their use at prices comparable to simple Liability Insurance on cars.
  • The sale of Ammunition to be limited and subject to high sales tax, proceeds of which go to the States in which the Ammunition is sold. 
  • Increased, stricter oversight of manufacturers and distributors of arms, with harsh automatic penalties on gun manufacturers (including automatic jail time for their Owners, Boards of Directors and CEOs) for all crimes committed with an unlicensed weapon.  Every black market weapon represents either a failure on the parts of the manufacturers to secure their product (“fell off of the back of a truck”) or willful criminality on the parts of the manufacturers (“dealing under the table”) and should be treated accordingly to finally cut off black market supplies.

Federal Recognition of Marriage as defined as “a legal union of adult human beings” with all accordant benefits.  Religious institutions may make their own rules regarding ceremonies, but local civil clerks cannot use their own personal religion to excuse themselves from carrying out their appointed duties under the law.

Federally Prohibit the Death Penalty and change sentencing protocols for Non-Violent Offenders to focus more on Community Service and less on Incarceration.  Violent Offenders, Grand Theft, Fraud and, in particular, White Collar criminals to face stiffer penalties.  Penal management to be returned to direct State control, with Private Prison Companies relegated to minor support with no control over policy.

Reinstate secular curriculum for all Public Schools.  Full immersion tri-lingual education in all public schools, K-12: English, Spanish and one additional elective language.  Create an education fund which is used to reimburse new network of National Universities offering both academic and vocational degrees

Payment of institutions to be withheld until post-graduation under a set flat rate for 2, 4, 6, 8-year programs. All institutions to be subject to regular audits to prevent artificial price-gouging.

Universal Voter Registration, with compulsory voting in all elections, to be Administered by the local States and Counties.

Institutional Reparations for American citizens of African and Native descent

Ban all religious trappings from Federal Buildings (including X-Mas decorations, Ten Commandment statuary, etc), while allowing Federal Employees time off for religious observance. Religion can not be used as a cover for bigotry and such arguments are to be considered illegitimate in Judicial proceedings.

 

CRIMINAL JUSTICE REFORM

Legalize, License and Tax Marijuana, placing it under the jurisdiction of the Bureau of ATF and similarly regulated.  Tax revenue to be used to help fund the Public Health Option.  All non-violent convicts currently incarcerated for Marijuana possession to be immediately released with time served and given jobs in the new legal industry.

All local police precincts to turn over their military-grade equipment and weaponry to the local National Guard.

All local police precincts to be subject to financial penalties for every single fatality that happens in their jurisdiction, regardless of justification.

  • All officers in a penalized precinct, from the Commissioner to the youngest rookies to be financially penalized along with their unit for the actions of any member of their unit, as a recognized means of discipline. 
  • For every year that goes by in a precinct without a single fatality, that precinct is to receive a financial bonus.

Any officer who is found to be abusing their authority to be stripped of rank and privilege, without appeal or benefits.

Nationalize all prisons and put them under local civilian review.  For-profit prison companies to be immediately dismissed.

 

CONGRESSIONAL BEHAVIOR, ELECTIONS & PROCEDURE

Ban all Federal Lobbying and remove all Lobbyists from Federal Buildings.  Lobbying shall be considered a form of Bribery, with the penalty for such being full seizure of all Lobbyist’s assets and the removal of the bribed official from Office.  SuperPACs to be completely disbanded and "Citizens United" to be overturned in law.

All Incumbent members of both Congressional Houses to immediately resign.  Hold emergency national elections to replace them, allowing only Independent/Third-Party candidates on the ticket.

All funding for Elections for Public Office will be provided publicly and all private monetary donations to campaigns will be banned.  Campaign contributions will be in the form of personal time commitments only.  Full Voting rights to all unregistered citizens who can provide a Birth Certificate, Passport or two forms of State/Local ID.  All those already registered to vote will only have to sign on-record register at the polls.

All Senators, Congressmen, Supreme Court Justices and Executive Branch Department Heads (including President) to accept salaries at Federal Minimum Wage (travel benefits to remain intact).  Savings to be used for Deficit Reduction.

 

BANKS,  ECONOMICS & WELFARE

Reinstate Glass-Steagle and break up the “Too big to fail” banks into smaller, more competitive entities.  All tax havens will be seized entirely. 

Raise Federal Minimum Wage to match the local cost of living.

Create a Federal Maximum Wage of $10M/year using the tax code to enforce the latter.

Welfare benefits to be redesigned to focus on job training, education and temporary relief, with benefit cutoffs to end after a recipient has successfully maintained a standard of living above the economic poverty line for 2 full months.  All beneficiaries of Federal Welfare must serve a mandatory 1 year with AmeriCorps if receiving benefits for longer than 6 months.

Creation of an infrastructure fund to be distributed to local government agencies directly based on proportion of citizen and businesses without regard to taxable contribution of the inclusive group in an effort to recognize businesses and employees need sustainable, safe and effective roads, bridges, etc. to ply their trade, etc. and balancing small community vs large community needs.  This fund will be overseen by a board of Federal, State, County and local citizen representatives on a regular basis.

Program of public works projects for domestic infrastructure improvements:

Transformation of the American public transportation grid to 21st Century standards: electromagnetic bullet trains, etc. as well as transformation of the American energy grid to 21st Century standards with renewable energy investment, increase carbon taxes

 

TAXATION

Redesign the tax code on a scale similar to Eisenhower era framework, with increased revenue divided as follows:

Increased revenue divided into thirds:

  • 1/3 for Deficit Reduction    
  • 1/3 for Domestic Infrastructure Improvements 
  • 1/3 for Public Health Option and Education funding

Forbid moving money from one domestic program to another.

Automatically double taxes on Businesses that:  

  • Outsource American Jobs 
  • Damage American Ecology.

Tax rewards for business that do the following:

  • Bring jobs back to impoverished American areas.
  • Are Unionized, with programs to allow for new members to join the Union.
  • Use Green technology and go above-and-beyond EPA regulations in Environmental Safety
  •  Give back to local communities and invest in local economies.

 

MILITARY POLICY AND BUDGET

50% reduction of military spending, with reductions of the Standing Army and Foreign Bases accordingly.  Remaining resources on augmenting and streamlining the Navy, Air Force, CyberDefense, Special Forces and AmeriCorps. Low-ranking Army Personnel still under contract to serve will serve the rest of their time with AmeriCorps and receive a 1-grade promotion in rank.

  •   1/2 of the savings to increase funding for NASA and Tech R&D. 
  •   1/2 of the savings for Deficit Reduction and 1/3 for Domestic Infrastructure Improvements 

Full disclosure to Congress of all Intelligence & Military Activities, Treaties (both secret and public), Deals, Slush Funds and Black Ops.   Failure to do so will result in summary prison sentences for all personnel who refuse to disclose.  All who willingly disclose this information can do so anonymously.

Repeal the Patriot Act and NDAA.

Turnabout

Well, here we are.  

In a pandemic lock-down with over 170,000 Americans dead due to the massive incompetence of the Orange Nazi, police brutality at such an all-time high that they're now letting vigilantes murder the citizenry for them, Drumpf is openly trying to rig the election and has apparently ordered his government to allow further outside interference.

Meanwhile, his supporters are doing everything they can to make the situation worse. From defending a murderous terrorist, to attacking the very foundations of our democracy as "Communist," to literally doing themselves what they accuse their opposition of doing.

Frankly, I've lost patience with it.

Can you imagine the Regressives' outrage if we treated them like they treat us?  

    I wonder if we did that and were arrested -- as any person should be for such actions in a civilized society -- could we use every NRA talking point you've ever heard as a suitable legal defense? 

    Probably not.

    And yet, the Regressives are now doing all of this, out in the open, with little or no real opposition or check.

    It's hard to imagine a more clear picture of what an oppressive, tyrannical government looks like than this.  And yet, every single Regressive looks at this picture and cheers for the government.  

    Imagine their reaction if the officer was black and the victim was white.




    We cannot allow this to continue.

    Our first line of defense is the VOTE.  We have to get the Orange Nazi out of office, by any and all means available.  So long as he continues to play dictator, we don't have a prayer of building the society we deserve.

    Taking Job Applications






    I'm looking at this election, as I do all elections, as an employer at a Job Fair.  This is my constitutional right as a US Citizen and I take it as a sacred duty.   Applications for the opening positions in my Executive Branch are being accepted.  As such, I'm sorting out which applicants best fit which roles in my Executive Branch and am narrowing down my top choices.

    None of them are perfect savior-monarchs who will fix everything with the stroke of a pen.  That un-American expectation doesn't meet reality.  As a citizen employer, I have accepted that no matter who reaches the final interview, that person will NOT check all my boxes, nor will they give me 150% of the changes I want right this minute.  All of them have flaws and faults and all have made mistakes.  Of course, this impacts my decision.

    When compared, though, to the outright Nazi regime we currently are being held hostage by, any of them would be a step back in the right direction.


    PLEASE NOTE:  Each candidate has been linked to their Financial backers and I strongly suggest the reader examine each link, so that you can have an effective idea of who these candidates are REALLY serving.

    FOR THE PRESIDENCY:

    Elizabeth Warren is my hands-down favorite, who has the brains, the stamina and the compassion necessary for the job.  I agree with the vast majority of her platform and tactics and can think of no one better to right the ship of state.

    Kamala Harris is a firebrand who holds her opponents to account without mercy or hesitation.  If Warren doesn't get the nomination, Harris, for all her faults -- and there are many, particularly when it comes to Mass Incarceration -- would be a strong, effective employee who would at least try to do right by the average person.  Undoubtedly Harris would hide behind the letter of the law as an excuse to do less for us than Warren would, which gives me ideological pause.  That said, looking at this as a citizen employer, given her experience, acumen and, let's face it, personal optics, I am seriously considering her as my second choice.  I could also live with her as VP or Secretary of State.

    FOR THE VICE PRESIDENCY:

    Pete Buttigieg would do well in calling out the hypocrisy of the Dominionist theocrats on the Right.  While his heart seems to be in the right place and his story is fantastic, I don’t believe him to be experienced enough to handle the top job.  The top job would handle him, which benefits none of us.  The Vice Presidency would give him experience that, down the line, would enable him to make an effective executive in the future.

    Bernie Sanders, the grand old man of the Left, paired with a younger partner, would make an excellent VP, with a bully pulpit of his own and the President’s ear when it comes to policy.  Sadly, though, I agree with his younger opponents that his time has passed to be the Commander in Chief, but his wisdom and experience would be a priceless asset to any incoming administration.

    FOR ATTORNEY GENERAL:

    Julian Castro is my first choice for this position, not the Presidency.  He’s fierce, strong-willed, has an incredible grasp of the law and will absolutely prioritize humanity over profiteering.  He would make a wonderful AG, in the finest tradition of RFK.  That said, I don't think he's showing the necessary ground support to make it to the final rounds of Presidential interviews.  I also think he's a far better temperamental fit for the AG slot.

    FOR CABINET POSTS:

    As I’ve long maintained that Warren would be a perfect choice to run the Treasury or the FED, I would strongly urge anybody who wins the nomination from her to appoint her to that position.  There’s nobody more ethically or intellectually qualified to run it.

    Amy Klobuchar seems to have good head and good heart, but in our age of shiny super-celebrity, she’s not someone who can realistically compete on the field.  I could absolutely see her running HUD or the HHS Departments.

    Cory Booker would possibly make a half-way decent Chief of Staff or Attorney General.  Given that he never fails to argue on behalf of Big Insurance and Big Pharma he's far too much of a Corporatist for me to have much faith in his actions if he were to be hired for the top job.  His good rhetoric rings hollow enough to knock him to the bottom of my preferred lists.

    Andrew Yang I laugh out loud at the idiotic way he presents Basic Universal Income every time he does it and have little faith in someone whose platform boils down to buying votes.  That said, his business acumen would be useful as a Deputy in the State or Treasury Departments.  He has some good ideas, but clearly doesn't understand a thing about how our Federal Government actually operates.

    Marianne Williamson is back on the list solely for this position. Be honest, now.  Wouldn’t we all love to see her as Press Secretary, presenting a voice of humanity and compassion on behalf of the administration?

    2020 is our final rounds of interviews, folks.  We are hiring.  Do the research on your applicants and see which ones realistically could do the job.
